We are growing... first as just a vision.... soon to become an actual operating farm.

We grow food...

As of 2017 we are focusing on microGREEN crops. And, in case you have not yet about microGREENS, they are the very young seedling stage (before formation of True Leaves) that are planted in SOIL and harvested when they are just 2" to 5" tall (depending on plant, market and flavor profile needed). But, ....... WHY microGREENs ?

This decision is based on the following key factors:

1) quick turnaround: microgreens have a 7-21 day growth cycle, instead of mature plants: 30 - 150 days,

2) very high nutrition value. For example: 1 oz of broccoli microGREENS has the same amount of nutritional value as 10 oz of mature plant,

3) high market value: with an average retail pricing of $1.50-$2.00/ounce, we can generate a reasonable income to support our Mission,

4) The greenhouse environment is suitable for - year round - microGREEN production

5) The skills necessary are teachable with moderate effort, time and investment.

6) MicroGREEN production is an excellent beginner crop for new growers looking to get experience under their belts

We start new crops each week and are growing a varying mix of:

  • radish,

  • broccoli,

  • basil,

  • corn,

  • sun flower,

  • peas and

  • cilantro.

Looking at the opportunity to build and operate additional greenhouses, we are eager to broaden our production to include vegetables, fresh water fish and plants, chicken eggs, compost worms, honey, herbs, edible flowers, all with an emphasis on crops that are excellent sources of protein, vitamins and other important (phyto) nutrients.

We grow this food for local families, restaurants and, some day, for schools, hospitals, assisted living homes and .....??.

As our primary focus, we are dedicated to making high quality organic food accessible to all local families, regardless of their financial situation.

We are part of the national Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) movement where families buy "shares", a subcription service where members pay each week or month for a regular delivery of in-season produce.

We will employ a three-tier system to make it work:

Tier-1: for families who dont have the cash and are willing to put in " a shfit for a share".

Tier-2: for families who do have the cash and who just want to pay... still: putting in a shift for a share barters time for $$.

Tier-3: for restaurants and gourmet food stores who will pay premium prices for cosmetically perfect food. This premium will be used to offset discounts for Tier-1 families.

We teach...

We adore shepherding others along the learning curve towards operating their own greenhouse CSA.

We provide the necessary information, experience, and support (financial, etc) to students so that they will successfully launch their own operation.

We engage with local schools and home school families to actively participate in allowing students to learn about how farm systems work as part of their curriculum.

We support food justice activism by hosting events that increase awareness.

We learn...

We are connected to other CSA farms as well as local University Agriculture Extensions to share experimental results and state-of-the-art cultivation practices.
